Beautiful state park. Nice hiking trail and camping areas. Bring a canoe and paddle around the lake. Right across the road is the states largest cottonwood tree (take bug spray!).
This Lac Qui Parle state park is very bad for camping from June 1 until September. The park was / is not a mosqitoes treated place. We call it a "Mosqitoes Land." We were fighting with raid of them hopelessly...had to eat inside the tents. Went to take shower and we had to run from one place just to get to another. By Saturday morning, the rest of other groups up and left. By the time we left, all the kids faces were covered with bites and swollen head, especially; my son.
Absolutely horrible in lower campground. Couldn't enjoy a fire due to the masquitos. Could hardly walk anywhere without getting ate alive and Many didn't stay as long as they paid for. Had to sit in our screened tent all weekend. I know there is a budget for these places but as much as you pay for camping and a vehicle pass really they could spray the park or cut some of the tall grass. We will not camp at the Lac qui Parle parks again.
Be prepared to bring lots of mosquito spray. Otherwise I enjoyed the peace and quiet and solitude.
We love this park. Our spot this time h as a fabulous view of the lake and valley.
